March 2025

This document, prepared for the Green Economy Joint Working Group (GEWG) comprising New Zealand, Chile, and Singapore under the Digital Economy Partnership Agreement (DEPA), outlines a strategic vision for integrating digital trade and green economy principles. It emphasizes the critical role of digitalisation’through AI, blockchain, IoT, and legal harmonisation’in enabling businesses to meet growing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) reporting requirements, comply with regulations like the EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), and enhance trade efficiency. The paper proposes actionable solutions to empower MSMEs, streamline carbon tracking, foster green finance, and build interoperable digital trade corridors, positioning the three nations as global leaders in sustainable, digitally enabled trade.
